“There’s a wonderful world of aluminum in the wonderful world of tomorrow.”
That was the campaign slogan of Forecast, a design program initiated by Alcoa in the 1940s to generate interest in aluminum’s possibilities. Forecast: Revisited provided the opportunity to play with the metal and explore its possibilities with an eye toward functionality within the domestic sphere.
I created a puzzle with pieces designed to explore compositional concepts, particularly assymetric balance. The result is essentially a three-dimensional interactive Mondrian painting made of aluminum.
